March City East Activity Report

Hello Everybody!

This marks the first of my monthly reports since getting tapped on the shoulder to fill the position of City East USASA Representative, so here goes! March was quite a short month for me as I only really joined the committee halfway through the month at my first meeting, so the remaining few weeks saw me try to figure out how everything works and to try to hit the ground running in my new role!

The Board Meeting was a bit of an eye opener, getting to meet all of my fellow committee members, USASA staff and trying desperately to remember all of the names, but I was also really impressed with all of the work that the organization undertakes. I also managed to join the USASA Clubs Committee during the meeting, which I am really passionate about as I do believe clubs are the most effective tool for student engagement on campus.

At the first USASA Clubs Committee meeting I quickly caught up to date with some of the goals and ideas the committee has in store for 2016. One aspect I am particularly excited about is the current plan to try to integrate the clubs, to put a network in place that would enable representatives of each clubs to share ideas and knowledge between themselves. I think this is a fantastic initiative and look forwards to developing it in the not too distant future.

The rest of March was spend like most other students are doing: coming to grips that the summer break was over and trying to balance University, work, sleep and a social life, with sleep always coming out the worse off.

Cheers,

Thomas Browne
