City West Representative – November/December Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

We are finally at the last month of the year! Sadly, this also means this will be my last report and I will be bidding farewell to this amazing amazing role of – City West Representative & this University.

As mentioned in my previous report, I secured a full-time position and have been quite busy for the past month along with the end of semester assignments. That was pretty much November – office in the morning and working late night for assignments.

I take this last report as an opportunity to show gratitude towards this great year – 2022 and that this role that has helped me so much professionally and personally. I wish I started a little early to cherish this role even more but having said that I wish the best for the elected 2023 Student reps. I am sure they will do great in empowering UniSA students and help them amplify their voices.

With that, I officially sign off as the 2022 UniSA City West Representative. Merry Xmas, Happy New Year & have a great year ahead!

City West Representative – October Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Hi there!

Welcome to October!

October has been an amazing month for me this year! I am happy to announce that I am now employed full-time at KWPX, an amazing advertising/marketing agency. However, this also means that I have been juggling uni, work and other commitments altogether. The month was all about final assignments. We had our monthly board meeting on the 18th which I attended in-person. I am continuing with my international student ambassador role by solving student queries on the ambassador platform.

And…that’s about it!

As I mentioned, I am currently employed full-time, but feel free to send in your queries to me via email (praty005@mymail.unisa.edu.au). Alternatively, you can also email the undergraduate rep – Hayate Yamada

City West Representative- September Activity – Tanya Salvi

Say hello to September!

This month has been a rollercoaster ride filled with assignments, job interviews and part time jobs.

It started with the monthly board meeting on 13th September. This time, we had our meeting a little early than our usual dates. This is because it was Bridget’s, our USASA Coordinator (Governance & Student Leadership) last board meeting! We wish her all the best!

I also had a formal inquiry scheduled on the 14th, however it got cancelled since the student accepted the original outcome.

The rest of the month has been quite hectic with managing assignments, lectures, project work, 2 part-time jobs and 1 internship. Honestly, I don’t know how I survived the pressure. For the first time it felt like I needed more days in a week, 7 days were not enough to balance it all!

September is also my birthday month & my friends managed to make it a special/memorable one!

October is also going to be a stressful month given the final assignments.

That’s basically it for this month!

City West Representative – August Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Say hello to August!

Hope you guys have had a wonderful time interacting with new students and exploring the campus and its services. We had our clubs fest, orientation tours, etc. in the first few weeks.

My month started off by attending the 2nd Student welcome reception on the 2nd of August, mainly targeted towards Business & Law school students, followed by a SP5 Orientation session arranged for them. On the 3rd of August, I had an Academic Progress Panel meeting scheduled for a PhD student. As mentioned previously (in the last report), I was involved in the Judging Panel of the ‘Images of Research & Teaching’ as the student representative, for which we had our panel meeting on the 10th of August so as to determine the prize winners.

The month ended with our monthly board meeting that took place on the 16th of August. The rest of the month and the gaps in between the above activities was mostly dedicated to adjusting to understanding the new course requirements, attending in-person classes (finally!), interacting with new international students in class & otherwise.

So I guess that’s all for this month, and will see you guys in September! – (which is also my birthday month FYI!!)

City West Representative – July Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Welcome back! The month of July is always exciting; meeting new students, volunteering at uni for orientations, welcome reception, etc. I started this semester with attending the second UniSA Creative Academic board meeting on the 4th, followed by the USASA Board strategic planning day on 14th where we reps conducted a SWOT analysis (individually and collaboratively) thereby aiming to set some practical and achievable goals and reviewing past mission statements to inform changes (or not) to develop a new one. On 19th July, we had our board meeting, followed by volunteering for Creative school’s online orientation panel via zoom. I also attended the first international welcome reception that happened on the 18th of July, where I was able mingle and chat with various newcomers.

That pretty much sums up all July activities. Next month is also full of exciting events but equally busy because new semester calls for seminars, assignments and increased workload.

City West Representative – May Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Hi guys!

The month of May was completely dedicated to assignments! Which is why there isn’t anything specific that I did as a board member apart from attending the monthly meetings (17th May); except – that Bridget recommended me to the university as a judge for this year’s Images of Research and Teaching. I will be representing the judging panel as a student representative, helping them in determining the winners (1st/2nd/3rd prizes) and nominating entries for the People’s Choice award. The deadline for the entries is 18th of July – so make sure check that out!

I am assuming June is going to be as uneventful as May. In the meantime, feel free to email me with your queries on -praty005@mymail.unisa.edu.au

City West Campus Representative – April Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Hi,

I can’t believe it is May already! I am sure that many of you would be mostly occupied with the assignments. Last month was full of assignments, club activities and other commitments.

The month of April started off with the Education Committee meeting on the 13th. The Clubs Networking event was held on the same day where USASA board reps were invited to meet and greet the new club execs, however given the clash of the two events, I could not attend the latter.

I am now also a part of the Academic Unit Board for CTV (UniSA Creative) as an elected USASA rep and an UniSA Creative student. The first meeting was held on 11th April which I couldn’t attend due to the viral flu, however, I look forward to be attending the next meeting. I also had an opportunity to meet with the other coursework student reps on the board virtually, discussing some issues faced by the students at the uni which needs to be brought in notice to the board. We will be further meeting in-person in the first week of June, to draft out reports with the discussed issues and recommendations to submit in the next meeting. So I call out to all my UniSA Creative students, feel free to email me with any problems or advices you have regarding your academic courses that needs to be heard by the school.

Additionally, I also attended our monthly USASA board meeting on the 19th along with the Annual General Meeting conducted prior to it. Lastly, the month ended with the Clubs Committee Meeting on the 21st

I will see you guys on campus! Also, We are currently brainstorming event ideas for us CWE reps to meet the lovely CWE students, do tell if you have any cool ideas for a meet and greet!

Don’t forget to send in your enquiries. You know how to reach me;

City West Campus Representative – March Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Hello everyone,

Hope you guys are having an amazing time at the uni so far. The month of March went really quick. It started off with a casual in-person meet and greet event with the USASA staff at West Oak. I also attended our monthly Education Committee meeting on the 9th of March, followed by the USASA board meeting on the 15th.

The most exciting part of this month was the campus fair across all UniSA campuses, of which I volunteered for the ones at Magill, City East and City west. It was so nice to see the campus full of students, socialising and taking part in their favourite clubs. I was even able to talk with new students, just having a usual chat and letting them know about some of the services that USASA offers and who to contact for specific issues.

Apart from this, the month ended with several assignments and other club-related activities. Overall, March was overwhelming as it is for any student, but I wouldn’t miss anything if offered otherwise.

April is going to be as hectic as March and I already have so many things lined up on my outlook calendar.

Lastly, don’t forget to send in your enquiries. You know how to reach me;

City West Campus Representative – February Activity Report – Tanya Salvi

Hi there!

I hope everyone is doing great so far, especially with all the events that happened in February. The first few weeks of uni have always been exciting for me. Enrolling into new classes, attending face-to-face lectures/tutorials (Big thanks to covid-19, finally everything is getting back to its usual), meeting new people through on-campus activities, etc.

February 2022 has been slightly different yet amazing for me. Since the international  borders were opened, I got an opportunity to visit my family and friends back in my home country – India (Mumbai). I attended various orientations and uni meetings via zoom, although the time difference was not necessarily pleasant. As a new campus rep, we had a handover process arranged that helped me understand some areas that need work, and just the experience and thoughts of the ex-CWE campus representative in-general.

We also had our first introductory Education committee meeting, followed by our monthly board meeting on the 15th of February. We also had a USASA staff and Board symposium on the 16th via zoom, where we met various departments and individuals working for the university, to understand their position and role towards the university students.

Additionally, I also attended the first Clubs Committee, where I was elected as the Minute Secretary alongside our conveyor – Gagan (Mawson Lakes rep). I also had three formal inquiries for an examination breach case under Business School, the panel was quite understanding given it was my first time and walked me through the entire process smoothly. Lastly, I ended the month with welcoming new students (both local and international) by being a panellist at two online orientation sessions – Business school (CWE) & Creative school (Magill).

Although it was fun interacting with students online, I look forward to seeing and meeting all new faces on campus. I will be at the Campus fair in week 2 and I am so excited to see you all there!!!

Please feel free to contact me, there are tons of business cards available at the USASA desks (in student lounge) across every campus. Alternatively, you can email me at praty005@mymail.unisa.edu.au
