USASA President – Isaac Solomon – September Board Report

Summary

This month has been an extremely busy month with many graduations which I was lucky to attend. This included the awarding of honorary doctorates to Andrew Pridham, Jimmy Barnes and George Takei.

During this month we continued conversations around authentic assessment and the future of teaching and learning arrangements. This included following up on student enquiries about specific Academic issues which had some good results for students.

This month I also attended the NUS EthnoCon which was one of the best and most informative conferences thus far. Sam and I presented a great presentation Academic Integrity and will now be working on a national student collaboration on Academic Integrity resources for student representatives and student organisations.

Discussions around major capital works continued with a focus on accessibility for students living with a disability and gender diverse students. Discussions around Deadnaming were also had with SAS and were extremely informative and fruitful.

With exams around the corner it is a stressful time for many students but work around mental health and the Working on Wellness program are in full swing.

Until next time

Isaac
