City East Undergraduate Report – Jan/Feb – Timothy Pham

Hello everyone,

How is your holiday going? I hope you are enjoying your break, catching up with many plans that you’ve had missed it last year due to the pandemic. Covid situation is getting better now in Australia now I guess and finally we can flight to other states without isolation, which is great. It’s February now, we’re getting towards the end of our holiday. In fact, I’ve started my final year already in SP1. Let’s see what updates I’ve got for you.

Here are some quick updates from my site:

USASA Retreat: The USASA Retreat was a two-day programme which was held at Adelaide Hills Convention Centre in Hahndorf on Wednesday and Thursday 19-20/1/2022. It was a good opportunity for all the USASA board members to gather together for some team building activities, got to know one another a bit more, got to learn more about USASA and how we can be better at delivering our services to you. The retreat was very successful in my opinion with some informative sessions together with some casual chats and games.

Due to my work commitments, I’m unable to attend the UniSA International Student Welcome which will take place at Pridham Hall (City West) on Monday 21/2/2022 from 3-5pm even though I really want to be there to meet my first-year fellow international students and answer any queries that they might have. However, our USASA president Isaac Solomon and international student representative Rohit will be there to welcome you. I’m still contactable if you have any queries, especially those who study health sciences in City East.

On Wednesday 9/2/2022, I will have a meeting with Bridget and Sim (your City East representative) to go through the handover process from your outgoing City East representatives in 2021 and we will make sure that all the good works that they’ve done in 2021 will be continued in 2022. We will also have some discussions around what we could do to benefit our fellow City East students during their time at university and even on line as our study will still be delivered in both forms. If you have any ideas of how you would like City East to look like in 2022, please drop me a line at phahy017@mymail.unisa.edu.au. I open to all suggestions and wait for your email.

This year, I will be a member of the Club committee and the Diversity Equity and Access (DEA) committee. The Club committee members are still discussing about the time for our first meeting to take place and it looks like we will have it on Friday 18/2/2022. I will keep you update with all the news that we will discuss in our next coming Club committee meeting and DEA meeting.

Club Training Conference for USASA Club executives will take place on Tuesday 12/4/2022 at 9am-4:30pm and Wednesday 13/4/2022 at 9:30am-5pm. It’s a great opportunity to update and refresh your knowledge of how to manage your club well. It’s also a good time to expand your networking, learn from your peers and other successful stories. I would love to see you there.

USASA Clubs Welcome is a social event which will be held at Holey Moley on Wednesday 23/3/2022 at 5-7pm. It’s free of charge but you will need to register though. If you haven’t met other clubs’ executives or your USASA reps, why not coming along to the event and get to know one another, share some ideas and support one another?

Campus Fair this year will take place on campus between 11:30am-2:30pm unless otherwise notified. Thursday 3/2 will be online with the clubs’ showcase, Wednesday 9/3 will be at City West, Thursday 10/3 will be at Mawson Lakes, Wednesday 16/3 will be at Magill and finally Thursday 17/3 will be at City East. If you haven’t been to one of these events in the last years, make sure you don’t miss out on this year Campus Fair as it will be one of the most memorable events that you will have during your uni life.

Key dates for February/March:

15/2 – USASA Board Meeting

18/2 – Club Committee Meeting

9/3 – Campus Fair at City West

10/3 – Campus Fair at Mawson Lakes

16/3 – Campus Fair at Magill

17/3 – Campus Fair at City East

23/3 – USASA Club Welcome

TBC – DEA Committee Meeting

I’m so sorry that I haven’t done much this month. I’m so busy with my works and SP1 studies. Hopefully I will have more time seeing you on campus between 21/3 and 17/4 when I have my break. See ya around!! ((:

Cheers,

Tim
