September Board Report

Hi everyone,

This month has been a quiet one for me, particularly because I’ve been away on clinical placements for all of September and will be for the first few weeks of October.

At end of last month, we had the monthly student catch-ups at the Playford building-it’s always good to hear feedback on how we can help you.

On the 16th of September, there was the Marriage Equality Rally. We along with thousands of others gathered outside of Parliament house to rally for YES for marriage equality. We heard from a number of inspiring speakers and we marched towards Victoria Square to show our support!

The monthly USASA meeting, finance committee meeting and welfare committee meeting all happened as per normal, with Natansh as the convenor for the WCOM as I was not able to make it due to clashes with my placement. As I am aware, the Brekky Bar was a topic of discussion as well as a new idea of an Emergency Grants program, possibly rolling out next yrar.

On the 17th of October, we will be having a BBQ at City East. Natansh and I will be there, so if you’re at City East that day come along and grab a sausage sizzle!

August Board Report – East Campus

Hi everyone!

At the beginning of the month I attended the monthly Board meeting. There was a brief update about Brekky Bar at the meeting-it will be held every Wednesday at Mawson Lakes, and hopefully we’ll be expanding to other campuses very soon.

On the 8th of August, I attended the protest against education fee increases. University students around Adelaide gathered outside Parliament house and we marched through Rundle to show our support.

July Board Report

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a relaxing break and ready to start another semester of uni!

This past month we’ve had a number of meetings including the finance committee meeting and welfare committee meeting.

For the welfare committee meeting, we discussed our proposed plans for Brekky Bar and are currently in the process of contacting Community Connect to discuss the new student-run model. We will report back soon, but in the mean time if you’d like to voice your opinions, feel free to fill out the short survey here:

On the 8th August, students across the country will be protesting to fight for free education. Please come along to support-at Parliament House at 1pm. Hope to see a lot of you there!

Next up:

July Board meeting – 7/8/17

Welfare committee meeting – 31/8/17

Finance committee meeting – 31/8/17

That’s all for now, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns 🙂

May Board Report

Hi All!

The past month has quite eventful. Starting off the monthly board meeting and AGM on the 1st, I nominated to convene the newly formed Welfare Committee. With Natansh and Jordan, we will meet once a month to discuss issues and ideas regarding student welfare. I also had a meeting with Bridget this month to go over my roles as the convenor, essentially I will be facilitating the discussion that goes on and generate ideas on how we can improve student welfare which will be reported back to the board to make final decisions. Our first meeting will be held on the 31st of May and our current main focus is on the student Brekky Bar.

April Board Report

Hi everyone! This past month has been quite an eventful month, starting off with the monthly USASA meeting and finance meeting.

Natansh and I also held our first student catch up at the end of March in the student lounge in the Playford building. We had hoped for a bigger turn out, but there were issues with marketing of the event which was brought to our attention by some students who came and spoke to us. Our next catch up will hopefully be more successful as we are here to help answer any of your questions to help make your life on campus a little bit easier. The date has not been finalised as I am currently on placements, but expect it to be early-mid May!

The Brekkie bar was also a topic of discussion these past months as we plan to make it free by second semester of uni which will hopefully achieve a bigger turn out. Student welfare our top priority here at City East!

In addition, Utopia is set to take place in Week 8 of this semester. It will come to City East on Wednesday 10th of May at the Bazil Hetzel Plaza. Come anytime between 11am-3pm if you are in need of some chill time from your studies. With exams around the corner, free massages and free food is always a good idea!

Finally, the USASA Annual General Meeting is coming up on the May 1st. Come along to the Jeffery Smart Building at 6pm if you’re interested!

Hope you’ve all enjoyed your mid-semester breaks and I’ll see you back on campus next week!
