April 2017 – Mawson Lakes Rep

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a great mid-semester break, and are looking forward to smashing out the rest of this semester. I’d like to start by taking a moment to congratulate Ryan Colsey, the new Magill Student Representative, I look forward to working with him throughout the remainder of the year. For those of you who worked on the public holidays over the Easter break, spending time away from your family and friends, thank you. You deserve your penalty rates, and I know first-hand the importance of penalty rates for students at UniSA. This month, the National Union of Students Welfare Department has launched its #ISupportPenaltyRates photo campaign, which I’ll be bringing to Mawson Lakes during upcoming student catch-ups.

Now on to what I’ve been up to this month:

Pac Crawl Pub Crawl

I had the pleasure of helping out on the USASA stall for our Pac Crawl event. It was great to see so many of you there, where students from all of our metro campuses had the chance to get together for an awesome event. It was especially great to see so many Mawson Lakes students there!  Thank you to all of the USASA staff, volunteers, and a special shout-out to Diana Wong (International Student Rep) for making the night such a success. If you’d like to help us improve our events for the future, then please check out this short survey here.

  • Formal Inquiry – 07/04/17
  • Pac-Crawl Pub Crawl – 07/04/17
  • ITEE Academic Review Meeting – 18/04/17

What I’ve got planned for next month:

Unitopia

If you haven’t planned to already, then you should come along to Unitopia, where there will be plenty of free activities on offer, including a Puppy Cafe, a free GP Clinic, UniSA Counsellors, as well as the Headspace Zen Zone. With a recent study showing that up to 83% of students suffer from stress, USASA committing to events like this is extremely important. Unitopia will be in the Sir Eric Neal Library, on Level 1 on Tuesday 16th May. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. If you’d like more information you can check it out here.

 Other things I have planned:
  • Student Catch-ups – 23/04/17
  • Clubs Committee Meeting – 26/04/17
  • USASA Annual General Meeting 01/05/17
  • USASA Board Meeting – 01/05/17
  • Unitopia Mawson Lakes – 16/05/17
  • Student Catch-ups – TBA

That’s all for now, if you see me on campus then come and say hey! In the meantime if you have any issues or concerns feel free to send me an email on mumjp001@mymail.unisa.edu
