Summary of activity
July was a busy month! I attended two conferences on behalf of USASA – the Education Conference and the NOWSA conference. They were both incredibly informative and I learned a lot about student activism across the country.
I’ve also been getting everything organised for the upcoming National Day of Action on the 24th of August through stalls and free food. Furthermore, Blue Stockings Week will be on the 15th-19th August. Chris and I have planned a domestic violence seminar for this week. I am also organising an equality cupcake sale during this week to raise awareness around the gender pay gap. I’ve also been organising the roll-out of the “Support Student Safety, Stop The War on Women” campaign – which raises awareness about sexual harassment, assault and violence, aims to empower survivors and push for improved university support and response procedures.
We have been looking at food options on campus, particularly for Magill and Mawson Lakes. We have been researching food trucks, releasing a student survey on this; and liaising with the university about how to improve the Brekky Bar for students.
We are also welcoming our new students for Semester 5 with O’week festivities kicking off across all the campuses!
